It is so scary to think of something like this but I guess it’s a reality of life? I’m sad as I read this, not even sure what to think :( Click on the title if you want to read more, below is a short quick snippet.
In 1990, there were slightly more than 3 million Americans over the age of 85. Now there are almost 6 million. By 2050 there will be 19 million—approaching 5 percent of the population. There are various ways to look at this. If you are responsible for governmental budgets, it’s a knotty policy issue. If you are in marketing, it suggests new opportunities (and not just Depends). If you are my age, it seems amazingly optimistic. Age is one of the great modern adventures, a technological marvel—we’re given several more youthful-ish decades if we take care of ourselves. Almost nobody, at least openly, sees this for its ultimate, dismaying, unintended consequence: By promoting longevity and technologically inhibiting death, we have created a new biological status held by an ever-growing part of the nation, a no-exit state that persists longer and longer, one that is nearly as remote from life as death, but which, unlike death, requires vast service, indentured servitude really, and resources.

Bathroom Blues ~ Fer and I embarked on another home improvement DIY adventure this Sunday. The bathroom was finally painted! I’m very thankful that the water stains are no longer visible. Everything did not go as planned though. The beautiful blue color in the picture is perfect …except it’s also the effect of my very very bright flash. In actuality the color came out much brighter and not nearly as subtle as we wanted orginally…so it looks like we’ll be painting again.
Saturday Muscles! This was the first day back since my hamstring injury and I did my full leg workout. I felt good - no pain :) After the fact was a different story, I am super super sore but I not injured, so I’m grateful for that.
Saturday Mussels! That same afternoon I finally bought some mussels and tried to cook them on my own. I was so excited to try it out since this is one of my all time favorite foods. I am very happy to say that they came out pretty good. Definitely still not like my dad’s, but yummy if I say so myself, like a 7 from 1-10 hehe. I guess I just have to keep practicing.
I injured my hamstring about two and a half weeks ago while dead lifting. I iced it and rested for about 4-5 days before starting up again. However when I did, I was surprised that it still hurt and seemingly was more injured than I originally anticipated. Since then I’ve totally laid off leg work for the past two weeks and focused on upper body, but even that was erratic. With my new position at work there has been some extra training which starts at 8am and that has cut into my work out time. Honestly, only being able to do 2-3 exercises on my routine is DEmotivating, so the last 10-12 days have been a slump.
Fast Forward » Today I decided it was time to get back on it. I wasn’t able to dead lift half as much as normal but at least I’m just slightly sore…not hurting and I did the rest of my work out in full.
Of special notice is that I finally fulfilled a weight lifting goal: 3 sets of 10 reps with a 45lbs bar on Seated Military Shoulder Press.
The bar may seem “baby” but when I first started out I could barely do a 1 set of 6 before I went down to dumbells. I’ve slowly but surely been increasing my rep number until now ~ I finally did the whole exercise on the bar. I am psyched!
I’ll be doing it again next week and then… I get to add weights! I will finally look like I’m lifting something. anything. little tiny 2.5 donut weights. My bar will not be naked!! Woo hoo :D
they should invent
a treadmill
with a laptop built in
and unless you were walking, the internet wouldn’t work
like you had to be walking on it, you can’t just trick it and stand on the sides
i would lose so much weight
and like if you wanted to download something you had to run
and the faster you ran, the faster it downloaded
I’d be the skinniest bitch in this world.
This is the best idea ever.
Wouldn’t this be fabulous?

Another “daily awareness”. This is just a random article I found on a group of dolphins off the coast of Brazil that help local fishermen round up fish so they’re easier to net. They get a cut of the catch in return. How crazy and beautiful is this?
Officially tired today. I had almost forgotten what being really tired felt like. Normally when I say that I am “tired” I usually mean lazy. As in I worked out hard, I have an excuse to vegg out now, but I don’t NEED to. And then if I’m not being lazy it’s actually being sore. Muscles hurting and not wanting to move, feeling that lactic acid burning as I readjust my position. But today it’s none of the above. Today I am actually zapped for energy, my muscles are sluggish although not in pain and I can actively “feel” myself resting as I sit in my desk and type away. I stretched and walked and honestly I’m very happy I didn’t push myself this morning. I’m finally learning how to listen to my body ;)
